Student Academic Support Services Inclusion (SASSI)

Student Academic Support Services and Inclusion (also referred to as SASSI) offers many services that can assist students at every level of academic proficiency to meet their own academic goals. SASSI has eleven staff members whose primary goal is to facilitate and enhance the learning effectiveness of all students in the various UTHSC programs of study.

SASSI is located in the basement of the General Education Building in room BB9 and is open Monday - Thursday 8:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.; Friday 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.; Saturday 10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.; and Sunday 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. The office is closed from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. during the week.

SASSI educational specialists are available to meet with students online, over the phone or in person. Online scheduling can be accessed through the SASSI website by clicking the “Schedule an Appointment” option located on the right hand side of each SASSI webpage.  In addition to online scheduling, appointments can also be scheduled by calling SASSI at (901) 448-5056 or by emailing

SASSI services are available free of charge to all UTHSC students, and meeting with a SASSI educational specialist is confidential unless abuse or risk of harm to self or others is communicated. No information related to sessions will be released without the written permission of the student.

SASSI facilitates and coordinates disability services for UTHSC students.  On the SASSI webpage, students can find information on the process for requesting accommodations, the documentation guidelines, and the forms needed to initiate the process for requesting disability services.

SASSI offers educational coaching and consulting, tutoring, test review, board prep, workshops, student groups, counseling, health career programs, and support services to U.S. military veterans.  If you have questions regarding resources and services available to veterans, please contact Kathy Gibbs at
