Intellectual Property, Copyright and Plagiarism Resources

UTHSC complies with the U.S. laws on copyright, trademark, and patenting. There are often areas that require clarification and this section provides resources to help you.

The University of Tennessee's Copyright Information website contains general information to assist faculty, staff, and students in understanding the complex subject of copyright. You will also find the UT System Statement of Policy on Patents, Copyrights, and Other Intellectual Property there.

While the Copyright Information website does not provide legal advice, it does provide an overview given that all facts and circumstances need to be taken into account for any given instance. An overview of the topic, including relevant University of Tennessee policies and unofficial guidelines are provided.

The Health Sciences Library also maintains a collection of links to helpful sites in the categories of Tutorials and Guides, U.S. Intellectual Property Law Resources, Useful sites, Digital Media, Fair Use, and Plagiarism. These links are selected to provide self-learning content as developed at other major universities and government agencies. Contact the library for more information.
