Admissions Coordinating Committee

PURPOSE: To coordinate and communicate on student admissions and recruitment related issues.

COMPOSITION:

  • Director of Enrollment Services (Chair)
  • Admissions Officer from each college
  • Vice Chancellor (reporting channel)
  • Director of Financial Aid

TERMS: Indefinite

MEETINGS: As needed, usually twice per semester

STAFF SUPPORT: Office of Enrollment Services

REPORTING CHANNELS: Vice Chancellor (reporting channel)

Financial Aid Advisory Committee

PURPOSE: To function as an advisory group to the Director of Financial Aid on issues, policies and concerns related to all aspects of student financial aid.

COMPOSITION:

  • Director of Financial Aid (Chair)
  • Vice Chancellor (reporting channel)
  • Director of Student Life
  • One representative from each college nominated by the Dean
  • One representative from Business & Finance
  • One representative from Health Careers Programs
  • One student representative from SGAEC
  • One student representative from each of the six colleges

TERMS: Indefinite; one year for students

MEETINGS: Quarterly or more frequently if necessary

STAFF SUPPORT: Office of Financial Aid

REPORTING CHANNELS: Vice Chancellor (reporting channel)

Residency Appeals Committee

PURPOSE: To hear appeals made by prospective and enrolled students concerning in-state or out-of-state residency classification for the purposes of paying fees.

COMPOSITION:

  • One representative from each college, nominated by the dean
  • One representative from Student Affairs
  • One representative from Financial Aid
  • One representative from Finance and Operations, nominated by the Vice Chancellor

Ex officio (non-voting):

  • Director of Enrollment Services
  • Representative from General Counsel’s office

Chair appointed by Vice Chancellor (reporting line)

TERMS: Three years

MEETINGS: Twice a year, on the first day following each registration period. Occasional meetings to review applicant appeals may be necessary on as “as needed” basis.

REPORTING CHANNELS: Vice Chancellor (reporting channel)

Student Government Association Executive Council

PURPOSE: To provide leadership in student related matters; to serve as the official liaison between students and administration; to nominate students for university, campus-wide, college and alumni committees; to assure that student viewpoints are represented in university forums through these student members.

COMPOSITION:

The structure of the SGAEC including specific responsibilities, duties and purposes is set forth in the SGAEC Constitution.

Students in each college elect officers to the college Student Government Association. These organizations represent student interests within the colleges and with the college administrations.

  • Presidents of each UT Health Science Center college Student Government Association
  • President of the Memphis branch of the College of Social Work
  • President of the SGAEC is rotated annually among each college and constitutes an additional representative
  • The President of the SGAEC serves on the Chancellor’s Advisory Cabinet and the Roundtable

TERMS: Indefinite

MEETINGS: Weekly with Student Affairs personnel; monthly with Chancellor

STAFF SUPPORT: Office of Student Affairs

REPORTING CHANNELS:Vice Chancellor, Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs; Chancellor

Student Health Advisory Committee

PURPOSE: To provide advice and recommendations regarding provision of Student Health Services; to serve as a liaison between students and health service staff; to serve as a major resource for determining the student insurance policy.

COMPOSITION:

  • One student from each college
  • One student from the College of Social Work
  • One student from the Student Government Association Executive Committee
  • Associate Dean for student affairs in each college
  • Vice Chancellor for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs
  • Director, University Health Services (Chair)
  • Staff of the University Health Services office

TERMS: Indefinite; one year for students

MEETINGS: Quarterly
