Toni M. Whitaker, MD
Professor of Pediatrics
Division Chief, Developmental Pediatrics (UT Department of Pediatrics and University Le Bonheur Pediatric Specialists)
Director, Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) interdisciplinary graduate training program
Dr. Whitaker is a Developmental Pediatrician with the University of Tennessee Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities. She received her medical degree and pediatric training from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Dr. Whitaker is board-certified in Pediatrics and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. She joined the faculty of University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2001.
Dr. Whitaker is actively involved in collaborative interdisciplinary clinical medical care, education, and research. Academic responsibilities include teaching for medical, allied health, and nursing students as well as pediatric resident physicians and interdisciplinary pre-professionals. Community outreach and educational opportunities have included work to promote early identification of and interventions for child developmental delays and disabilities. Dr. Whitaker currently serves as the Tennessee Ambassador for the Centers for Disease Control’s Learn the Signs. Act Early. program to promote awareness of early developmental milestones.
