Bio Statement

Dr. Sandeep Samant is chief of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery and director of the Mutlidisciplinary Head and Neck Clinic at the University of Tennessee Cancer Institute.  He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

Samant is a recognized expert in the management of head and neck cancer and tumors of the skull base.  He is a member of the head and neck guidelines panel of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.  He was the first surgeon to establish a robotic head and neck surgery program in the Tennessee-Mississippi-Arkansas region.

After completing his medical school from the All-Institute of Medical Sciences, Samant received higher training in Otolaryngology in the United Kingdom and, subsequently, fellowship training in head and neck as well as microvascular surgery at the University of Miami and in head and neck oncology at the University of Tennessee.

Site Principal Investigator.  A Phase III Randomized Trial of Docetaxel Based Induction Chemotherapy in Patients with N2/N3 Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer.  A multi-institutional phase III clinical trial sponsored by the University of Chicago and Aventis Pharmaceuticals.
