Dr. Chyka is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and the Executive Associate Dean of the UT College of Pharmacy, Knoxville Campus. At UT since 1977, Dr. Chyka has served as Director of the Poison Center in Memphis, the Tennessee Drug Utilization Review Program for TennCare and Medicaid, and the Drug Information Center at UT. In 2006 he and his family moved to Knoxville to develop and direct the College’s second campus.  He is a licensed pharmacist, a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and a board-certified clinical toxicologist.  Dr. Chyka has authored or coauthored approximately 90 peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters and served on the editorial boards of five journals. He has held leadership positions in the Tennessee Pharmacists Association, American Association of Poison Control Centers, American Board of Applied Toxicology, and the United States Pharmacopeia. In 2010 Dr. Chyka was inducted in the National Academies of Practice as a Distinguished Pharmacy Practitioner. During his career Dr. Chyka has focused on the field of clinical toxicology and has been involved in a variety of experiences as a researcher, educator, clinician, advisor, and administrator in the clinical setting, poison control centers, academia, healthcare facilities, and through national clinical toxicology and drug safety organizations.
