UTHSC Committee on Academic and Student Affairs (CASA)

The Committee on Academic and Student Affairs (CASA; formerly the Academic Affairs Committee) is an administrative committee, chaired by the Vice Chancellor for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs (or designee) and comprised of senior college administrators appointed by the dean of their respective UTHSC colleges and campus administration representatives from both Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, as well as the designated representative of the Faculty Senate, in accordance with the principles of shared governance.

Committee responsibilities:

  • Review and approval of campus-wide policies and procedures related to students and academic programs;
  • Review of all academic program substantive change proposals, including new program proposals;
  • Oversee and monitor the routine and thorough review of college-specific information contained within CenterScope, the Catalog, and related information provided on college- and program-specific websites.

UTHSC Faculty Affairs Work Group (FAWG)

The Faculty Affairs Work Group (FAWG) is an administrative committee, chaired by the Vice Chancellor for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs (or designee), comprised of senior college administrators appointed by the dean of their respective UTHSC colleges, as well as the designated representative of the Faculty Senate, in accordance with the principles of shared governance.

Committee responsibilities:

  • Review and approval of campus-wide policies and procedures related to faculty;
  • Review processes related to faculty appointment, promotion, tenure, and evaluation
  • Provide administrative review of proposed changes to the Faculty Handbook
